Oak's FX Remix v1 (Video demo)

This is a repost after the old thread glitched when my previous account was deleted. However some effects have been tweaked/improved.

IF YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD THE FULL COLLECTION:
http://www.filedropper.com/visualeffects_1
  • 1.) Backup your existing VisualEffects.ini in C:\Program Files\VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Content\System
    (or your Tribes directory Content\System)

    2.)Copy+Paste the VisualEffects.ini from the above download into C:\Program Files\VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Content\System
    This will replace your current file.

    3.) Done!
If you want to add other effects such as Bodeans, apply them to this VisualEffects.ini afterwards.

IF YOU WANT TO MANUALLY ADD ANY OF THESE EFFECTS:
These effects can be used separately as well as in conjunction with any others such as Bodeans. Below I will show how to manually add each effect separately so that people can pick and choose. All of these edits take place in VisualEffects.ini, which is located in C:\Program Files\VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Content\System
(or your Tribes directory Content\System)

Try to follow this guide as literally as possible to avoid mistakes, however if something goes horribly wrong I have included a default VisualEffects.ini at the bottom of this post.

'Rocket-Launcher' Burner

In VisualEffects.ini search for [BurnerProjectile]
At the bottom of the found block of text, add this:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=Class'CS_Props-WAR.FX_SmokeDummyTrail'
Then search for [FireSmall]
At the bottom of the found block of text, add this:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Medium_Explode'
Then search for [BurnerIgnition]
At the bottom of the found block of text, add this:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Medium_Explode'

'Glorax' Grappler

In VisualEffects.ini search for: EventResponse=GrapplerProjectileHit
Directly below that line of text, paste this:
  • EventResponse=GrapplerProjectileAlive
Then search for [GrapplerProjectileHit]
Leave 1 space, then below the found block of text, paste this:
  • [GrapplerProjectileAlive]
    Event=Alive
    SourceClassName=GrapplerProjectile
    Chance=100
    Specification=(SpecificationType=GrapperProjectileTrail,SpecificationClass=Class'IGVisualEffectsSubsystem.VisualEffectSpecification')
Then search for [GrapperProjectileHIt]
Replace the found block of text with both these blocks of text:
  • [GrapperProjectileHIt]
    ClassName=Class'IGVisualEffectsSubsystem.VisualEffectSpecification'
    AttachToSource=True
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Glorax_Explode'

    [GrapperProjectileTrail]
    ClassName=Class'IGVisualEffectsSubsystem.VisualEffectSpecification'
    AttachToSource=True
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Glorax_Projectile'

'White Orb' Hand Grenades

In VisualEffects.ini search for [HandGrenadeProjectileTrail]
In the found block of text, replace the bottom two lines with these four:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Ball_Alive'
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Burner'
Then search for [HnadGrenadeProjectile_Hit]
In the found block of text, replace the bottom two lines with these four:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Flak_Explode'
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Medium_Explode'

'Ribbon' Ski Boots

In VisualEffects.ini search for [SkiPads_LightRight]
At the bottom of the found block of text, add this:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_NeutralRibbon_Flag'
Then search seperately for:
[SkiPads_LightLeft]
[SkiBootHeavyRight]
[SkiBootHeavyLeft]
And do the same for them.

Tweaked GL

In VisualEffects.ini search for [GrenadeProjectileExpodle]
At the bottom of the found block of text, add this:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Mine_Explode'
Then search for[GrenadeProjectileTrail]
At the bottom of the found block of text, add this:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Rocket_round'

'Plasma' Ghaingun

Search for [ChaingunProjectileHit]
Replace the entire block of text found with this:
  • [ChaingunProjectileHit]
    Event=Hit
    SourceClassName=ChaingunProjectile
    Chance=100
    Specification=(SpecificationType=BucklerLost,SpecificationClass=Class'IGVisualEffectsSubsystem.VisualEffectSpecification')

'Scattershot' Blaster

In VisualEffects.ini search for: EventResponse=BlasterProjectileHit
Directly below that line of text, paste this:
  • EventResponse=BlasterProjectileAlive
Then search for [BlasterProjectileHit]
Leave 1 space, then below the found block of text, paste this:
  • [BlasterProjectileAlive]
    Event=Alive
    SourceClassName=BlasterProjectile
    Chance=100
    Specification=(SpecificationType=BlasterProjectileTrail,SpecificationClass=Class'IGVisualEffectsSubsystem.VisualEffectSpecification')
Then search for [BlasterHit]
Leave 1 space, then below the found block of text, paste this:
  • [BlasterProjectileTrail]
    ClassName=Class'IGVisualEffectsSubsystem.VisualEffectSpecification'
    AttachToSource=True
    LocationOffset=(X=,Y=,Z=0)
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_BeagleRibbon_Flag'
For yellow have this as the bottom line instead:
  • EffectClass=class'FX.FX_PhoenixRibbon_Flag'
And for blue:
  • EffectClass=Class'fx.FX_ImperialRibbon_Flag'

'Nuke' Mortar

In VisualEffects.ini search for [MortarProjectileTrail]
In the found block of text, replace the bottom two lines with these four:
  • EffectClass=class'FX.FX_BallBeagle'
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_BeagleRibbon_Flag'
Then search for [MortarProjectileExplode]
In the found block of text, replace the bottom two lines with these four:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_bomb_explode'
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Large_Explode'
Alternatively: For a crazy big explosion, use this instead! (May lower visibility if you are right inside but looks awesome)
Search for [MortarProjectileExplode]
In the found block of text, replace the bottom two lines with these six:
  • MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_palacefloor_Explode'
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_bomb_explode'
    MaterialType=MVT_Default
    EffectClass=class'FX.FX_Large_Explode'
